First Trip of the Season
Back-to-back days on the water and it was an absolute grind-in the best way possible. We flat-out crushed lingcod.
Limits came quick both days, with bites happening almost instantly as soon as jigs hit the bottom. It didn’t matter if we were running jigs or dead bait-everything was getting eaten. When it’s like that, you just stay on the throttle and keep lines in the water.
Highlight of the trip was a 25-pound lingcod, and it came in wild fashion-hooked while hanging onto two other fish on the same jig. Three fish, one drop. Doesn’t get much better than that.
Rockfish season is open as well, and while we didn’t target them heavily, we picked off a few nice yellowtail for the table.
Weather couldn’t have lined up any better-calm seas and easy fishing made for two all-time days offshore.
Lingcod trips are firing right now and will stay strong over the next few months. If you’ve been thinking about getting out, now’s the time.
