Who We Are

Hook N Ladder Fishing was founded by two firefighters who share more than a love for the ocean - we share a calling to serve.

After years of working side by side in the fire service and spending our time off on the water, we felt God leading us to build something that combined both: a fishing experience rooted in faith, family, and purpose.

Meet Your Guides

Hook N Ladder Fishing is led by Captain Canon Racanelli and Derek Smith - firefighters, outdoorsmen, and men who believe in doing things the right way.

With years of experience both in the fire service and on the water, they bring a steady, safety-first approach to every trip. More than that, they’re committed to creating an environment where every guest feels welcome, comfortable, and taken care of.

Whether you're here to fish hard or just enjoy the experience, you’re in good hands.

More Than Fishing

To us, fishing isn’t just a sport.

It’s a chance to step away.
To breathe.
To reconnect with what matters most.

Out on the water, something shifts. The noise fades, conversations come easier, and moments that might otherwise be missed have space to happen.

That’s what we’re here to create.

Why This Matters to Us

This mission is personal.

One of our founders is the father of a child diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at just four years old. Watching that journey — the strength, the resilience, the daily fight — has shaped how we see people and why we do this.

Everyone who steps onto our boat carries something with them.
We believe they deserve a place where they feel seen, supported, and not alone.

Our Promise

Whether you’re a seasoned angler or it’s your first time holding a rod, our promise is simple:

You’ll be known. You’ll be welcomed. You’ll be cared for - by name.

We don’t just guide fishing trips.
We create experiences that stay with you long after the day is over.

Who We Serve

We are especially passionate about serving those who need it most:

  • Families of fallen heroes

  • Veterans facing PTSD or injury

  • Children living with chronic illness

  • Anyone walking through a difficult season

Because sometimes, what people need most… is just a day to breathe.

Our Boats

  • 24’ Allied vessel - currently in operation

  • Custom 34’ vessel in development - expanding our ability to serve more families and groups

Where We’re Headed

As we grow, our vision is bigger than fishing.

We’re building toward something greater - multiple vessels, expanded trips, and eventually spaces where families can come together to fish, rest, reconnect, and find peace.
